Questions riders ask

When is the best time to kitesurf in El Yaque?
February to June. Windfinder's 25 years of observations at the nearby airport give monthly averages of 12.4 to 13.6 knots from February to June, the highest of the year, and IKSURFMAG calls February to June the most reliable period, with wind nearly every day.
Is there wind in El Yaque from August to October?
Less. August to October are the lightest months in the Windfinder record (about 9.6 to 10 knots on average at the airport station). IKSURFMAG describes October to January as windy with some calm days, so pack bigger kites or plan flexible days.
Is El Yaque good for beginners?
Yes, with a school. The water is shallow and flat over a wide area; the launch is small and gets crowded in the afternoon. See the schools in our El Yaque guide.
How far is El Yaque from the airport?
About 7.7 km by road, roughly 10 minutes by taxi. Our airport-to-El Yaque page has fares and pickups.
