Eating at El Yaque: What to Expect from the Beach Village Food Scene

El Yaque is a small beach village, and its food scene is exactly what you would hope for: casual, fresh, and informal. Rather than name specific venues (small businesses here open, close, and change hands often), here is how to eat well in the village.

Beachfront dining A handful of beachfront restaurants and bars line the sand at El Yaque. The formula is reliable: fresh catch of the day, grilled or fried, with tostones or rice, eaten with your feet in the sand while kitesurfers cross the bay. Sunset is the time to be at a beach table — arrive a little early to get one.

Village spots A few blocks back from the beach, small family-run restaurants serve Venezuelan staples: arepas stuffed with cheese, shredded beef, or cazon (shark), pabellon criollo, and fresh tropical juices. A breakfast arepa from a local spot is the classic way to start a wind day.
